"GO FOR IT! You can do so much more than you think you can. I have become so much stronger mentally and physically - I am more tenacious, self-aware, and self-disciplined since I started running. If you have a big goal, think about it, write it down, and visualize it every day! You will get there!"

about me

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I dabbled in sports as a kid – I took figure skating classes, played intramural volleyball in middle school, and was a trainer/manager for the football and girls’ soccer teams in high school. I was also a cheerleader and mascot! I joined the Navy in 1998 and served for 8.5 years as an administrative clerk and journalist. Writing was my passion for many years! I had to run while I was on active duty, but I always struggled to enjoy it. I started running seriously in 2006 when I was going through a rough time and transitioning to civilian life. Running helped me to find a positive goal to focus on. I also played roller derby off and on for several years; I played with one league in CA and two in WA. Fun fact: I have roller skated a half marathon (1:01) and a full marathon (2:10)!

hobbies & passions

I am a voracious reader! I have read 100+ books a year, every year since 2015. I have a stack of books on my “to read” list that’s longer than my arm! I love collecting gadgets. I have so many training tools for swimming, cycling, and running. I also collect Sparkle Skirts! I love to go to the ballet and musicals and travel. I hope to do some more camping and eventually try backpacking! I love photography too!

Greatest Adventure

I really enjoyed my time at trail running camp in Idaho back in 2017. We explored, we ran, we hiked, we soaked in hot springs, and we did the River of No Return Endurance Runs (still one of the most scenic races I’ve ever done)! I love the Idaho wilderness. So different from where I live. I’ve also done some amazing 20+ mile point to point runs – those are my favorite because you really feel like you’re getting somewhere!
